Our Story
Meet our Founder- Eimear (Mimi)
Eimear, affectionately known as Mimi, has been captivated by the enchanting world of theatre and performance since her upbringing in Co. Down. Her journey began with a deep immersion in musical productions and local drama classes, laying the foundation for her lifelong passion for performance. Armed with a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies, Mimi embarked on a career in arts education, spanning London, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Canada.
It was in Hong Kong where Mimi discovered her true calling. For seven dynamic years, she devoted herself to nurturing young talent as a children’s theatre director, tutor, and scriptwriter, collaborating with esteemed organisations like the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation. Here, Mimi honed her craft and witnessed firsthand the transformative power of drama in shaping young lives.
Returning to her roots in Belfast, Mimi remains an active member of the vibrant performing arts community, engaging in performance, direction, and scriptwriting for various drama companies. Drawing from her rich and diverse experiences across the globe, Mimi has channeled her passion and expertise into the creation of Theatre Kids.
With a mission to bring the magic of theatre to schools and communities across Northern Ireland, Theatre Kids offers dynamic, creative, and enjoyable drama classes. Through imaginative play and student-led activities, children explore acting, dance, and singing in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Mimi understands the importance of tailored workshops that cater to each age group's development of performance skills, self-confidence, teamwork, and creativity. With Theatre Kids, she invites young performers to embark on an imaginative journey of self-discovery and artistic expression, where every child has the opportunity to take centre stage and shine bright in the spotlight.
